Ministries

At Light in the Desert we endeavour to meet the ministry needs of all who attend our services.  As well, we encourage our members to involve themselves in ministry activities in the wider community.

Adult Sunday School

Teaching and instruction from the Word of God is conducted each Sunday morning prior to the combined morning worship service.

Youth & Children's Sunday School

Sunday School is provided for youth as well as two separate levels for children relevant to their age groups.

Children's Church

Children between the ages of six and three are welcome to attend our Children's Church which is held in conjunction with our Sunday morning worship service.  This is a special time of singing, Bible lessons and craft activities that is geared specifically towards this age group.  Children's Church has proven to be a great avenue to transition children into sitting in a complete church service.

Combined Worship Service

Combined worship services are conducted each Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Hymns are sung and teaching and encouragement is brought from God's Word.

Mid-week Bible Study & Prayer Meeting

Bible study is conducted on Wednesday evenings presenting topics which encourage Christian living.  Corporate prayer is also brought before the Lord during this meeting.

Pastoral Visitation

The pastor regularly visits with members of the church as well as with non-members who have expressed a desire to know more about the Gospel or Light in the Desert Baptist Church.

Missions

Missions is the heartbeat of God.  Before Christ left earth to return to Heaven, He gave one last prayer request.  That request was to pray for more labourers to enter the ripe harvest field of souls.  Christ also gave one final command - that to go forth and be a witness to every creature of the world.

Based on these things, Light in the Desert has a two-fold plan for missions.  Firstly, we actively pray that God would call someone from amongst us to go forth, win souls and plant churches where the Gospel is not actively being preached.  Secondly, we are directly involved in proclaiming the Gospel to the world through supporting missionaries through the cooperative program.
